Artist Profile with Rueben Margolin

Reuben Margolin loved geometry as a student and later studied classical painting in college. The marriage of these two disciplines resulted in his creation of moving sculptures that all manifest his love for waves in nature. His giant undulating sculptures are built of moving parts made from found or discarded materials like wood, string, cardboard, even a pieces of old gym equipment. Ranging from small and simple, to huge looming works with hundreds of shifting pieces, Ruben’s creations are awe-inspiring and beautiful. Upper Playground’s Walrus TV recently caught up with the kinetic sculptor for an interview in his Emeryville studio. Check it out!
